How this book was published is beyond me. I guess anyone can publish anything these days. I have no idea how it got 4+ stars with 90 reviews. Although, at this point, only 7 are from verified purchases.This book jumps all over the place. I think this is a story like I would concoct in my head while trying to fall asleep at night. Knowing that if I wanted to make a true story this would be the outline and I would go back and give it substance.
Sean and Paige have no morals. I can get past the step-siblings thing. That's not a blood relation. However, they start hooking up randomly while Sean is engaged and Paige is married. Obviously, the synopsis give the latter info. I was hoping that she left her husband before starting the affair with Sean. They don't really even talk about what they are doing. They just all of a sudden have sex and then all of a sudden it's a different scene. I would give it 0 stars if I could.
I'll admit I was just hoping it was a steamy read and not too worried about a perfect story. However, this was so flighty and so immature, the steaminess was fizzled out. I am not reading the rest of the series but I really hope the author got some help before publishing more.

My first time reading Brooke Kinsley and while I deplore cliffhangers, this story's second book is already out so I could just continue with my reading. Very interesting characters in Paige and Sean. Step siblings, insight into both characters' musings and inner thoughts as well as a suspenseful/twisted plot.

AN ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL INTRIGUING ROMANCE by Brooke Kinsley . She writes a fast-paced strong short story structure storyline and well developed characters in Paige Manning and Sean Slate and supporting characters in Arthur and Lauren in an exquisitely brilliant provocative twisted exquisitely well written story . The story is drama grief consequences quilt forbidden heartfelt and captivating from start to finish 💋 💖 . I love and recommend this book to everyone 😆 😙 .
This story started out with a bang.
Pretty hot and to the point, until it starts unraveling. Not everything is what it seems.
Her characters are known to eachother and you will quickly know the how and when. They have a past that binds them together. I'm not a fan of a certain topic in this story but I can't help but side with the heroine and the whys (the ones I am aware of). Now, the hero he has me balancing between do I side with him and "wtf dude? get your ish together!"
I enjoyed the author's writing style. It flows easily and hooks you just as easy.
The cliffhanger was a complete surprise. I didn't even see it coming and I am so glad book 2 at this time is free because I hate being left hanging and i'm able to jump right in as soon as finish typing up this review.
This story started as young love . Paige Manning came to see Dr. Sean Slater for her depression. They have history together. This book does have cheating and ends in a cliffhanger. It is interesting enough to find out what happens in the next installment. I'm not fond of cliffhangers but this one is a good story to follow.It has a greay story line and the chemistry between Paige and Sean is really crackling hot. Can't wait to read the next installment. I received this advanced reader copy voluntarily in exchange for an honest review.
Paige and Sean, step siblings. They've loved each other as best friends and as a one time lover in their youth. Now years later after they parted ways, Sean's a doctor and Paige is married to Author, a man she really doesn't love, a man who caused her such grief when he causes an accident and she looses a baby. Paige seeks out Sean for help and now so many years between their youth and now has adults do they fight the passion and chemistry that they had once or do they give into it and have a future they both wished for? Thank God the 2nd part is already released so we can find out.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this story because I didn't read the blurb. A friend recommended the book and "friends to lovers" is a sub-genre of romance I enjoy reading. This book needs to have a Trigger warning for the miscarriage topic in the book.
If it's in the blurb, great, but an author's note at the beginning should be added.
Overall, I like the premises of friends to lovers, but in this book, it's an incomplete story. Usually, the first book in a series sets the tone, introduces all the characters and begins the storyline for the protagonist & antagonist. In this book, the backstory is basically the whole book with details of their present lives woven in. I just didn't like the way it was done and found it confusing.
Just when the story is making progress, it ends and it's a cliffhanger. Yes, I was disappointed. The author included the first couple chapters of the next book as a bonus. Though I appreciate bonuses, this isn't a series I'll continue reading.
